So Taylor is kind of a funny guy. He was hitting some keys on the piano and then he would laugh hysterically. I have no idea where he got it from but it is funny.
These next few videos are of Livie. She is definitely finding her voice. She is up and growling at 6:30ish (or earlier) each morning. Liv loves her bouncer and enjoys sitting up.
This video took a little coaxing. So you'll have to forward a ways or sit through it. Somtimes baby videos are not that exciting, but these are mostly for the grandparents. We have had a lot of family members sick and so they haven't been over to see our kids.
Well, here's the updates. We took Olivia to her four month appointment on Wednesday. She is 15 lbs. and 25 inches long. Dr. Edwards told us she is in the 80th percentile for heighth and 90 percentile for weight. She's a chunk! I love those cheeks!! He also said she is functioning on a six month level. She grabs things with her hands and feet (when on her back) and had fantastic head and torso control. She is one tough chicka! She got her immunizations caught up and a flu shot. I, for one, DO NOT believe in flu shots. I have never got one and haven't had the flu since middle school. Any thoughts?
We also had the doctor check Taylor out to see if he needed to continue speech therapy. The speech therapist said he is finished and has reached all his goals (yeah!!). The doctor disagrees. He feels he has a speech delay and we should continue with another session (six more months, I think). Taylor loves to go to speech but the therapist said that he has come extremely far and now when he talks you can understand him but listen a bit to get all of it. He is doing quite well, too.
We have been trying to sign Taylor up for the toddler program they have on campus and have not succeeded. I had called several times and campus (HFED Dept) said that they did not do the program anymore. Shocked, I know. My good friend, Chrystina Teerlink, has had her daughter in the program several times and was surprised about that information. So APPARENTLY if you want your child to be in the toddler program on campus, IT DOES EXIST. After many e-mails, days of tears, and many nights praying you've got to sign your child up a semester in advance. Your child must be 18 months old when it starts and 33 months old before it ends. So whatev now!! We signed him up for the pre-school (hopefully) in January. He will then barely be 3 years old. I hope that it works out. You have to sign up to be on a waiting list then they send out an acceptance letter. Weird, I know. So we're hoping he can be in a more social place to further his skills and his speech. He plays well with other kids, there's no question there, but the doctor still feels that he is a bit behind. Oh, well. I feel like it's my fault, but it's not.
Steve is gearing up to register for classes. He's got a couple more weeks and we've got to get him going. School for him doesn't start until January but he's got to get his classes early so he can get the ones he needs the most first. Taylor was throwing a fit and was trying to hit me last night. He tried a couple of times and Steve came over to help. Taylor turned and totally whacked him in the ...area... It looked like something off of America's Funniest Home Videos. Oh, how I wish I had taped it. We would've won the million dollar prize!! Also I asked Steve to get me a drink of water while I was holding Livie. He had kind of taken a while and then came over and gave me a sippy cup full of water. Holy crap!! It was hilarious! The third funny thing about Steve is sometimes when I ask for Liv's binky he'll almost put it in my mouth. These are not done on purpose. These are total funny accidents. Gotta love, Steve.
I just got a new calling. If you haven't heard all ready, the Church has changed 'Enrichment' to Relief Society Meetings. I am the leader and have a great committee. They are so helpful. We did our first meeting last Tuesday. I was thinking I could teach the class (which was on breads) because it was short notice, I make bread-stuff often, AND I took a baking class. It went well but I realized later in the day when getting supplies for it that Tuesdays are my busiest accompanying day. I play for a couple hours in the morning and 4 hours in the evening. It was a close call getting there on time but things went well and the sisters had a good night learning some life skills. AND -- the Stake Relief Society President was there, too. No pressure!? It was good and we've got some great ideas planned for the next little bit. Until next time...
hey.. I saw your blog and thought I would take a peak! The Relief Society meeting was wonderful Tuesday night and you did a great job teaching it.. and I love your bread recipe (and so did Alan)!
ReplyDeleteI def. think you should keep Taylor in speech.. there is so much that they can do to help him develop and to get him right on track. My youngest sister has been going to a speech therapist for the last 5 years (she has a disability) and they said after 3 years she could be done and she was at the point where if you really listened you could understand what she was saying but it was still really hard. By keeping her in there the extra two years she jumped up from a 5 year old speaking level (2 yrs ago) to a 10 yr old speaking level (which is how old she is now) in a short time. Those people are great and Im sure Taylor could really benefit from it!
Wow you have been busy Allison!
ReplyDeleteI have to admit that Taylor whacking Steve is totally hilarious! (sorry Steve I'm sure it hurt).
Good luck with the Pre-school on campus I hope you guys get Taylor in. I am sure he will benefit with whatever works. Siera starts Pre-school next year to. We actually signed her up awhile ago though through Onda K in Ririe (ask Steve He'll know her). :)
Very cute post! Your kids are so funny and cute! I personally would follow what the speech therapist says, after all she did specialize in speech, and your doctor didn't. As far as flu shots and vaccinations go, we don't do them. If you are ever interested as to why, give me a call. It's nice to be informed as to other options so you can have a choice. Good luck!
ReplyDeleteCute pictures and video! Your little family is so cute. The only thing I know about flu shot is that last week my dr. told me babies under 6 months should NOT get it because it is cultured in eggs and there is no way to know if they are allergic since eggs are not in their diet yet. I don't know though...thats just what my dr. said. The flu scares me so I just don't go anywhere. :)
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun post. You all have been so busy. Your kiddos are getting so big so fast, its hard to believe. How exciting to hear about the progress little man has made in speech. Stick with it and see how far he can go. :)
