If you know your music, you were probably looking for a link to the song but, no. It's a new phrase I've coined that keeps me moving forward.
It's hard sometimes to try to figure out what to write. I have always been a good journal writer but when it comes to explaining our lives I get a bit of a block. Sometimes updates are useful and other times I don't want to whine and complain about my 'so-called-life-at-home'. So things are usually going well. We'll start with some updates. . .
Steve started classes again this semester. He's taking 19 credits and is working almost full-time. I feel he really does love being on campus; probably about as much as I do. He is a communications major and is going into digital media. He is amazing with computers and is learning to use a MAC. We have always had HPs so it's a bit different. He'll come home from class just thrilled to be learning new things and just that, being in class. I wish him the best of luck. I want him to know i love him and appreciate him.
We also recently saw Avatar with our friends. It blew Steve's brains out, almost quite literally. He absolutely loved it and took me for a second time. I loved it. It is incredible. All the political back lashing and the Pope condemning it is useless. It's a wonderful story and the most amazing special effects ever created.
Taylor is continuing speech therapy for a while. I didn't see the use of it until now. He will be attending the pre-school on campus this semester. The speech therapist said now is the time they like to have kids start. He started about a year ago and we have no idea why. We also took Taylor to the pre-school's open house. It was a chance for the kids to come and see the room and meet the teachers. They are all nice ladies. As I listened to the other kids I noticed that Taylor's speech is completely terrible. After crying at home for a couple of hours, I decided that there's a lore more work to be done to help him. The fact is he is behind and we can do alot to help. So we are working on slowing down and getting each word down clearly. Letters and numbers are a challenge for him too. He is getting so much better. That's the best and most wonderful part of this. He has never retrogressed. Ever. So the therapist is very pleased and glad about this. He is such a happy boy and very active and so good. He loved the first day but we done by the time they were doing large group activities. He is a special little boy and I am thankful I am his mom to help him learn and grow. He will be such a great man when he is grown.
He also went to primary for the first time 2 weeks ago. We didn't realize it until we were headed to nursery that he was 3 and was a sunbeam. He didn't like sitting down and paying attention the first little bit. due to the size of our ward they have the combined exercises first then split to classes. He was hitting and screaming and crying and it was embarrassing. He finally calmed down and we went in while they were doing their sharing time coloring. After a few minutes I tried to sneak out and I hear this, 'Bye, mama!' and that was it. he was just fine. the next week was about the same. We'll get better each week. Hopefully.
Olivia is 7 months and crawling. We really cannot believe it. She is pulling herself up on everything. That's partly Taylor's fault. With a brother like him, you'd too want to go play. She is becoming her own person now, too. She loves shoes. She will go directly for jewelry, too. It's funny to me because I was never really into fashion until now. I was dressed and matched and hair done, but never cared too much about it. She will be a girly girl and be so cute. She has some actual hair growing. Just like Taylor, it's blonde, blonde, blonde. She loves to laugh and smile. Taylor loves to make her laugh as well. He will play peek-a-boo and hide-n-seek with her. he will find her and say 'found you, bibia!' it's really cute. I am so glad they get together so well. we'll see how long that lasts. Just kidding. They will be loving and caring for years to come. We got her 3 month photos taken and need to get her 6 month ones done. She is such a cute girl and is always happy to see us when we get home.
As for me, I am working and enjoying it. I am playing for 12 people and also the opera workshop. There are always problems with hiring due to the economy. So there was another teacher needing someone to play for one of the choirs. She talked with the secretary saying it was ok for me to play and then the next day it wasn't. It was just really frustrating. Oh, well. I can pick up a couple of extra beginning students to make up for the funds. I really love what I do. I am still serving as the Relief Society Meeting Leader. We've got a meeting tonight and we are planning for this semester. There's a breakfast this Saturday that we're in charge of but we're mainly just cooking while the RS Presidency does the rest. (great calling, huh?! jk) I am glad to help the sisters in my ward develop their skills to better themselves and their families.
Well, I think that's all for now. Hopefully, this helps you stay on track with us. We're going and going and going and love it!
Thanks for the update :) Your kids are SO adorable! I think it's great that Taylor is in speech -- I just got my degree in speech therapy & it is DEFINITELY better to start young. If your speech therapist is ever mean to you or you have any questions that you don't want to ask her, please please let me know. Take care,

I believe we are all still waiting for a video of Oliva crawling. :o)
ReplyDeleteYour updates always have so much I never know where to start. Glad Steve is enjoying school and you are enjoying work and your calling, Olivia sounds like such a doll--too fun!, and I hope that Taylor really enjoys preschool and sunbeams (that still blows my mind). Keep your chin up mommy. :)
